Minister Kiyingi dismisses Mbabazi presidential bid
BY KIHEMBO WILBERT
State minister for
Works Asuman Kiyingi, a hitherto known supporter of former prime
minister Amama Mbabazi, said although his mentor has a right to contest
against President Museveni, he has nothing new to offer to the country.
Mr Mbabazi, a former secretary general of the
ruling NRM party, who is MP for Kinkizi West, on Monday night declared
his intention to contest for the presidency in 2016.
“Mbabazi has the right because the constitution of NRM and that of Uganda allow him to contest but there is nothing new Mbabazi can bring on the table apart from a new face because he has been at the centre of all the critical decisions of this leadership,” said Mr Kiyingi, who acknowledged having been mentored by Mr Mbabazi.

Mr Kiyingi, the Bugabula South MP, made the
remarks while speaking at Kasaka Primary School during local
celebrations of the Day of the African Child on Tuesday.
