A fire raged through Cormier Brothers Fisheries in Cap-Pelé on Monday morning, destroying the smokehouse.
The fire was reported about 7:30 a.m. and smoke from the blaze was visible for some distance.

Cap-Pelé Fire Chief Ronald Cormier told Radio-Canada the fire caused a total loss.
The fire broke out in a building and then the wind pushed the flames toward two adjacent buildings.
About 10 employees were in the building when the fire started.
Cormier said there were no injuries.
About 50 firefighters from departments in Cap-Pelé, Haute-Aboujagane, Port Elgin, Shediac and Dieppe were called to the scene to fight the blaze.
