The Dar-es-Salaam resident Magistrates Court in Tanzania has ordered the Ugandan government to produce more evidence of the offenses committed by commander of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels Jamil Mukulu in its bid to have him extradited to Uganda.
The court which cited discrepancies on the warrant of arrest issued by the Magistrates Court in Jinja, Uganda indicated that it would not order Mukulu’s extradition without strong justification since he had expressed serious reservations about getting a fair trail in Uganda.
Mukulu is wanted for trial in Uganda over the June 1998 attack by the ADF rebels on Kichwamba Technical College that left atleast 80 students dead. The rebels burnt the students in the dormitories. Scores more were injured and at least 100 abducted and taken to ADF ranks.
Mukulu, the once feared commander of the ADF that has since been declared a terrorist organisation, looked nervous as he appeared before Kisitu Chief Magistrate Cyprian Mkeha in Dar-es-Salam, Tanzania during the extradition hearing.
